MAESTRO

MAESTRO

builds new decentralized ecosystems for the creators and audience of the music industry

ABOUT MAESTRO

Blockchain technology can not be denied changing the face of the digital music industry. However, the existing blockchain music services only focus on improving the established stream and distribution structure, and failing to address the underlying problems of the industry today. Future music products developed with blockchain, unlike its predecessors, must utilize technology to provide innovative functions that revolutionize the music industry at its core.

Maestro began with such a need, to solve the problems that engulf the music industry today: that is, the unfair structure of the industry itself. Third parties, such as labels and agents, are currently reaping more than 80% of the profits generated, making artists with almost no support and struggling with financial burdens. Music player companies only exacerbate this inequality through inefficient bureaucracy.

We at Tim Maestro believe that for the music and its industry to flourish, we must provide an environment that focuses primarily on promoting creative endeavors of artists and ensuring fair compensation. Therefore, we propose a blockchain-based music platform that acts as a creative ecosystem that is founded on a cohesive cycle of cooperation between creators and consumers.

Music distribution rights are now monopolized by third parties such as labels and production companies, who have used their influence to control the resulting profits. The inherent inequalities of such a distribution structure affect not only artists, but also consumers, who become burdened by the unreasonable prices they have to pay to enjoy music. Maestro aims to create a transparent industry through decentralization with blockchain technology. By leaving the "brokers" of the process, consumers will be able to use streaming services at much more reasonable prices.

The emergence of Blockchain and the Problem

With the birth of Ethereum and its revolutionary intelligent contract, a lot of effort is being made to apply this technology in the music industry as well. We see more and more examples of blockchains being used, such as "Opus," a Ethereum-based music service; "Resonate," a service that offers a unique profit allocation structure, and "Choon," a platform that focuses on distribution earnings.
Most blockchain-based music platforms focus on obtaining copyright, allocating musical gain issues, and increasing structural transparency. The Maestro team also approved this three areas of improvement. However, we have doubts about whether the copyright or profit distribution-focused approach can indeed revolutionize the music industry and set up an environment that artists can boldly move to from existing labels. Currently emerging are the following issues that accompany blockchain-based services:

Agony for Consumers: Lack of Music from Existing Labels

The new platform lures artists into blockchain-based services to secure their rights. This is a positive change, as it allows them to secure and operate their copyrights without the need for intermediaries. Listeners have different problems. Because customers want mainstream music from famous artists, most streaming services feel the need to invest heavily in supporting as much content as possible and serving a variety of tastes. Blockchain technology is the basis of many innovative endeavors, but because of the difficulty of getting the right to mainstream music from label companies, it is not easy to satisfy the needs of many customers.

Agony for Production Companies and Artists: Opposition to existing structures

To build a new structure, production companies or artists have to leave their current labels. However, failing to retain business with current labels can cause problems with production costs. It is not easy for production companies to completely abandon their relationship with labels, challenge the established industrial structure, and join a new paradigm.

Agony for Labels: Lack of Benefits

There is no real benefit to be gained with the label of the emergence of new blockchain services. Instead, such services will cause them to lose their current monopoly on copyrighted music. Despite the many problems they cause in the industry, it must be recognized that the label must retain its current rights through various efforts, activities, and expenditures. It is clear that every party in the music industry today has a different position and point of view.
The Maestro team has decided that industrial problems can not be solved by proposing an idealistic model that does not take into account the perspectives of each stakeholder. As such, we have taken a different approach from existing blockchain-based music services - it will provide a novel element that will prove to be interesting despite the issues mentioned earlier. Thus, we at Maestro have focused on considering the intricate relationships that exist between all parties in the industry.

Solution

Solution to Problem: 'Capital'

Maestro focuses on 'capital' to solve the problems mentioned above - in particular, the costs required to produce the song. Capital problems arose before other important issues including fair distribution of income and the improvement of the structure of the music industry. Since capital is a key element that runs the music industry today, it is safe to predict that improving the funding process will provide a fundamental solution to its problems.

Current Production Process

Production companies receive funding as investment from labels to produce music. As such, they first transfer exclusive rights to the distribution. Even if only part of the rights are transferred, the artist should just distribute their music through the label. Once the contract is drawn, the artist has no choice but to follow the established process to receive proper funding and publicize their creations.

Solution 1: Crowdfunding for Music Production

To create an all-encompassing musical ecosystem, Maestro is focused on solving capital problems and providing a stream-based streaming streaming service. Maestro will solve this problem through crowdfunding.
Crowdfunding is an alternative financial service that allows projects or businesses by raising money from many people. Already known as the business method used by Kickstarter and Indiegogo, funding of $ 16.2 billion has been invested worldwide through this method.
Crowdfunding has solved funding problems for promising businesses and projects while creating new processes that enable early adopters to choose products to produce. Many projects, especially in the arts, have successfully started through this process.
Maestro wants to apply the concept of crowdfunding organically throughout the music industry. We aim to create an ecosystem where production costs are raised by fans and investors, and the benefits generated by streaming songs are distributed evenly amongst artists and investors. Blockchain technology will thus play an important role in providing funds to produce music and equitably distribute its rights.

Solution 2: Models of Reasonable and Breakthrough for Consumers

Maestro methods will bring more benefits to consumers as well. The Maestro service already makes sense of the pricing policy in which consumers pay according to the number of songs they have actually flowing. If consumers do not use any of the services provided, they are not charged. Maestro provides incentives to consumers by allowing purely playable subscription packages based on usage. This funding structure provides new investment and communication opportunities for consumers. Consumers can choose to communicate directly with artists and become active participants in their projects. If the projects they funded succeed, they can expect a share of the profits based on the amount of their investment. Maestro is the first blockchain platform through which consumers and artists can help each other for mutual benefit.

Maestro Service

Maestro is a blockchain based music platform consisting of crowdfunding centers and streaming services. Maestro focuses on building platforms where profits are distributed fairly through the transparency of blockchain technology and thereby solve capital problems: the most fundamental of the problems that underlie the industry today. Artists can reduce the burden of production costs by receiving funding through Maestro's center crowdfunding, "Ensemble." Consumers receive rights to the content they have invested.
Because investors receive a share of the right track, they can also develop a sense of responsibility in promoting it. Once completed, the project is registered to the streaming service, "Symphony." Furthermore the benefits resulting from the content are distributed among shareholders. In other words, Maestro can solve current funding problems through advanced funding, help secure artist rights, and operate streaming services to create an environment where music projects have a better chance of success. Rather than just focusing on the artist's share of profits, we are dealing with funding issues for all participants. We can build active, participatory music services by providing incentives to each participant. We at Maestro focus exclusively on creating a new music ecosystem that can support all artists, production companies and investors using blockchain technology and consider appropriate incentives for each participant. respectively.
